Philosophy of Education
The purpose of education is to gain knowledge in various subject areas that are unknown. Education is how a person gain skills or develop from a learning process. I believe that the classroom should give children a chance to learn in unique ways. In special education to be a professional educator, it has a lot of responsibilities at hand.
Keeping students on track can be very challenging at times. Learners must keep focused and must be willing to learn. Learners must think outside the box, while being creative. A teachers roles and responsibilities should keep the learners attention. Keeping a learners attention in the work or class, needs to be to a limit. If the teaching time is spent to long on subjects it could lose the interest of the learner.
I believe that the classroom provides a unique group of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a special education teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful. I will present a curriculum that involves the interests of the children and make learning relevant to life. I will include themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make children active learners. Finally, I will tie learning into the community to help children become caring and active members of society.
